In 2006, Dr. Venkat and Dr. Mithuna established SmileArt Dental, offering endodontic and orthodontic services.

Dr. Venkat Canakapalli attained his BDS in 1993 and an MDS in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in 1999 in India. In 2005, he completed the New Zealand Dental Registration Examination process and is a certified General Dental Practitioner who limits his practice to Endodontics in Tauranga, New Zealand. 

Since 2007, his colleagues in the Bay of Plenty area have trusted Venkat to provide compassionate and skilled endodontic care for their patients. His gentle care makes root canal procedures more comfortable for his patients. With over 20 years of experience as a dentist, he has consistently shown a strong commitment to excellence and empathy for his patients. 

He travels worldwide to collaborate with experienced clinicians and stay updated on the latest tools and techniques. He is a founding fellow and former President of The International Academy of Endodontics. The academy was established to provide the leading international endodontic and scientific educational experience for endodontists and their colleagues in dentistry, medicine, and science.

In 2015, Venkat co-authored the bestselling textbook "Best Practices in Endodontics: A Desk Reference". 

When he's not exploring new places with his family, he loves to cook, take photos of nature, and watch sports.
